Dr. Joseph Roofeh specializes in obstetrics and gynecology. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Cell and Molecular Biology from Tulane University and received his Medical Degree from The Technion – Israel Institute of Technology in Haifa, Israel in 2016. He completed his OB/GYN residency at Wayne State University, Detroit Medical Center in 2020 as academic chief resident. He won Excellence in Student Teaching from Wayne State University in each of his four years.
Through his training at Detroit Medical Center, Dr. Roofeh had the privilege to care for the extremely underserved and medically complex communities of downtown Detroit. He also spent time during residency working at Calderon Guardia Hospital in San Jose, Costa Rica through the IHCAI Medical Program. He treats the full spectrum of OB/GYN related issues starting from adolescence throughout adulthood, and into menopause. He treats both high risk and low risk pregnancies. His surgical training is focused around minimally-invasive techniques using Da Vinci Robotics for hysterectomies and other procedures like hysteroscopy and endometrial ablation to treat pelvic pain, ovarian cysts, and heavy bleeding. In addition to his expertise in minimally invasive surgery with the Da Vinci Robot, he performs TVT Slings for urinary incontinence and anterior/posterior repairs for pelvic organ prolapse. His expertise also allows him to also help women struggling with infertility and perform procedures for family planning.
Dr. Roofeh grew up in Great Neck, New York, where he spent most of his childhood playing basketball, tennis, soccer, and football. He also loves traveling, cooking, reading, and bike riding. He looks forward to enjoying the California weather, beaches, and outdoor activities.
