What is chronic pain?

Any pain that lasts 3-6 months or longer is considered chronic pain. It can be related to a health conditions such as arthritis, headaches, cancer, infections, back problems, nerve damage, or fibromyalgia, or it can be caused by an injury or surgery. In some cases, chronic pain doesn’t have an obvious cause. Chronic pain may cause other symptoms, including:

What is acute pain?
