  • About Dr. Heather Garza

Heather obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing with honors at the California State University of Long Beach in 2013. After two years as a stroke/telemetry certified nurse, she began her graduate studies at the University of California, Los Angeles. Upon transferring to UCLA, she worked as a medical/surgical certified nurse at the UCLA Medical Center in Santa Monica prior to obtaining her Master of Science in Nursing, Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), specialty with honors in 2018.

Heather interned at both The Children's Clinic in Long Beach and Torrance Memorial in Family Practice. She started her career as an FNP in an integrative medicine clinic at Goodlife Physical Medicine, where a team-based approach was used to evaluate and manage musculoskeletal complaints. Subsequently, she accepted a position at the Orthopedic Institute for Children in urgent care, treating pediatric sports injuries and fractures. She is now qualified to provide full-spectrum primary care and sports medicine for both adolescents and adults. Her goal is to work closely with her patients and their families to understand what they need to live happy, healthy, and active lives.

Heather also enjoys volunteering her time and skill. She has traveled to Costa Rica on a mission trip where she assisted in understaffed nursing homes. She has also volunteered in El Hongo, Mexico several times with the Flying Samaritans non-profit organization to provide free health care, medications, and donations to underserved communities.

A California native, Heather was born at Torrance Memorial Medical Center and grew up in the South Bay. She is a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, Sigma Theta Tau Society, and American Association of Nurse Practitioners. In her free time, Heather enjoys spending time with her fiancé, friends, and family. She loves staying active, playing beach volleyball, meditating and traveling to new places.

She also speaks medical Spanish with her patients.
