Dr. Vanessa Dickey, an oncologist/hematologist, earned her medical degree
at the Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, Virginia. After completing
a residency in internal medicine at the USC affiliated Santa Barbara Hospital,
she trained in hematology/oncology at the Norris USC Cancer Center. An
expert in benign and malignant hematology with special interests in the
treatment of breast, lung and colon cancer as well as leukemia, lymphoma
and blood-related cancers, Dr. Dickey has participated in research using
photodynamic therapy, a new treatment approach utilizing laser light-
activated compounds to destroy cancer at the Beckman Laser Institute in
Irvine. She also has been involved in studies on the use of blood thinners
for clotting disorders. She is the author of the medical textbook
Hematology and Oncology. Dr. Dickey is the Medical Director of Oncology and Chairman of the Oncology
Committee at Little Company of Mary Hospital. She leads the Transfusion
Committee at Torrance Memorial Medical Center.
